Pit Firing
$95.00
Instructor: Keith Carter
This time-honored tradition will leave you wanting more as we experiment with natural
elements to achieve one-of-a-kind finishes on our wares. Color is created on the surface
of your piece through application of everyday items such as corn husks, banana peels,
salt, copper, and baking soda. This class will be broken down into three segments, which
will include building and burnishing, preparing for firing, and final clean-up and waxing.
Due to the length of time required, the firing will take place offsite and is not mandatory
to attend; however, students are welcome to participate for some or all of the firing
process. Location and details of the firing time will be discussed during class.
Prerequisite: Ceramics Fundamentals
#AC211 5/18/20 – 6/1/20 (Monday/Wednesday)
5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
The atmosphere is always
positive and fosters
learning. I have found no other place
that offers me these opportunities
and am grateful that the Artisan
and Business Center provides them.
