From the editor
Hello readers and welcome to the first issue of 'The Gavel'. We hope to make this a truly shining endeavour.
Toastmasters International (TI) is a nonprofit educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking and leadership skills. Through its thousands of member clubs, Toastmasters International offers a program of communication and leadership projects designed to help people learn the arts of speaking, listening, and thinking.
And all of us here, at the ISC Gavel Club are a subset of the ISC Toastmasters.
This magazine is really a first time experience for me and the Gavel Club. It was a really fun learning experience. I'm really thankful to our Mentor MTM Hema for the support and guidance she and the other senior Toasmasters have given us and for giving us this amazing oppurtunity.
So, you can expect a quarterly magazine from our Gavel Club that will leave you entertained and educated.
So, hope you enjoy your issue of 'The Gavel'.
Until then,
First-timely Yours,
Tharanath Rai

The gavel is a sign of
leadership that helps the
members to understand what is
happening or how they are to
participate in the meeting. The
gavel should be tapped on a
block or table in a firm, concise
manner to symbolize authority
and firm leadership on the part
