Anke Korvemaker, E5a activities . This is why his parents and older brothers often took him to the movies. These historical movies had a great impact on him and still influence him nowadays. It’s hard to say if this movie had has an influence in society because it has just recently been released. But what I think it does do is telling a large audience about wall street and the corruptions that took place by Jordan Belfort. So in a way we can also see this movie as a moral lesson to be learned by everybody actually. After getting to know more about the director Martin Scorsese I was getting really curious to the ‘ wolf of wall street’ , so I went to the cinema. To say it shortly: I like this movie! One of the reasons I found very interesting in this movie was the editing. To me it seemed a little different than other movies I have seen. Mainly because in this movie the main character jordan belford really talked to the camera, like the audience was there at the time. This makes the movie more interactive and you’re more concerned with the story. Also a nice example of this well-done editing was a scene which happened in slow-motion. This was done to point out a certain moment and person when a very good idea was born. Also the movie itself was very spectacular. It didn’t get boring for even one second, there was always something happening. You could definitely say there was a lot of action. And this could be a negative thing because sometimes the action becomes more important the story. But in‘ the wolf of wall street’ this is not the case because the storyline is still pointed out very clearly and the deeper themes and motives behind it are still subtle visible. Many people criticize this movie for idealizing and celebrating the lifestyle of Jordan Belfort. But I don’t agree with this statement. I believe that by exaggerating the way he lived, the movie has become a sort of satire on his life. The films comments on the injustice that is done to the victims by showing how Jordan Belfort came to his end. And they showed how deep his trouble was the end of the movie. So I think that by this they acknowledged to convey a sort of moral lesson to show how it should not be done.
