Christ the Redeemer is a 40 meters tall statue. It stands upon a hill overlooking Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. It is made by Paul Landowski in 1931. I like it so much, because it is very tall and overlooks one of the biggest cities in the world. It took approximately 8 years to construct it. It is very detailed as well. But still it isn’t very extraordinary, since it isn’t that old. This sculpture is made by Michelangelo in the Renaissance period around 1500. It stands in Florence in Italy. It is 517 centimeters high and takes up the whole room. I like this statue so much, because it is very detailed and also very old. I have been there a few years ago and still impressed by its size. It is carved out of a single piece of rock and Michelangelo must have been immensely precise in his work. The Nightwatch is made by Rembrandt van Rijn in 1642. it is 363 by 437 centimeters big and weights 337 kilos. I like this painting so much, because Rembrandt goes into detail very much and let the light fall on the places he wants you to focus on. His technique is perfect to make such paintings. I have been there and am still amazed by the size and I can’t imagine how long and concentrated he must have been to finish this masterpiece.
