The top speed of the extremely quick machine was 1227 km/ph, which is faster than the
speed of sound. The museum was a pleasant sighting of British culture and you could see
that the local inhabitants were proud of what they had made in the past. It was really pure
British without any influences from the outside. The main reason for this is probably their
isolated geographical position, which made it easy for them to shut themselves of from the
outside world.
Opinion
My visit to Coventry was a really interesting, educative and memorable experience for me. I
learned a lot about British cars and saw how beautiful they were and that it is a shame that
they aren’t making a lot of them nowadays. I could clearly see how pompous the guides in
the museum were and they told everything with a lot of pride of their country and cars. The
experience in the simulator was one of the best I had in a long time. It was magnificent to
see how difficult it was to control such a beast of a machine and what forces the human
body had to endure. The visit to Coventry reminded me a bit of my Grandfather who died a
couple of years ago. He worked in the car industry as well for a while and was always very
interested in them. Some memories of him came back again, so that was really nice. I was
very open minded toward the visit to Coventry. I didn’t have an idea of what it would be like
and everything was a surprise to me. That is why I had a eye-opening experience without any
prejudices. Everything was new to me and all the information I got about the Second World
War, the city and the museum was very fascinating. Furthermore, I was curious about how
the city would be, because my host family told me just to see and experience it and only
gave me information while we were already there. I changed my mind during my visit when
we were in the cathedral, because I always thought that the British were still a bit angry
about the German bombings, but what surprised me was that they tried to forgive them for
that. This was a completely new perspective to me, because I watch a lot of Top Gear and
they always make jokes about the Germans and the Second World War. In the end, the visit
to Coventry was a great experience for me and it really opened my eyes and gave me
another perspective on history.
