CA 3 Popconcert
General information
On the 7th of December we went to a performance by Kraantje Pappie. It started at 9pm and it
ended at 11:30pm. First there was a program before Kraantje himself started to perform. In this
there was Roberto Tan and FATA. The whole performance is called: “Semi-bekend”, because all the
artists aren’t that well known. There isn’t a real storyline, but you shouldn’t expect that if you go to a
pop concert. The theme of the performance of Kraantje is the love of his family and friends. Most of
his songs are about this like: “Wat nou als het lukt mama?”. This is about him wanting to be an
rapper and he surely succeeded. It also show that his family plays a major role in his life and in the
songs he makes. His mother was also there at the performance. This shows how important she is for
him.
Why did we go there?
We went to Kraantje Pappie, because we like his Music a lot. We all like rap music. I didn’t really got
to a pop concert before and so this was my first time. That is why I was also very interested not only
in the music itself, but also in the ambiance and the set-up of the theatre. In the end I was dragged
here by Thijmen and Arjen, because they wanted me to go with them. I wouldn’t go here on my own
and so it was very nice to go with them.
Research
Kraantje Pappie is a rap artist mostly know by his hits: “Waar is Kraan?” and “Wat nou als het lukt
mama?”. Kraantje comes from Groningen and grew up in an urban environment. K The genre is
definitely rap. This comes due to the fast talking and loud beats. Kraantje’s real name is Alex van der
Zouwen. He uses this name, because he didn’t like to use his own name when it comes to
performing. Kraantje is 26 years old. He could have been a really successful judoka, but he gave this
up to become an artist. The genre of this performance is hip-hop and rap. The performance is quite
important, because you are enjoyed by it a lot and it makes you very happy. Also it makes you active
and you start to dance and with this you also burn some calories so you can lose some weight. Int the
future it won’t be much more important than it is today. But the relationship between you and your
family and especially your mother will remain very important forever. I think Kraantje is very much
influenced by the urban culture in the Netherland. He comes from Groningen and that is a real city
for people who go to the university. This is a different culture from ours in the sort of countryside.
Kraantje probably chose for the Gigant, because it has quite a big stage with enough space and a
large dance floor in front of it.
Opinion
I liked the performance of Kraantje a lot. Mostly because of me hanging out with my friends, but also
because of the nice music. The performance was very spectacular. This is mostly because all the
artists put a lot of energy into their performance even thought there were only 100 people and the
theatre wasn’t completely filled. I think it is very good that you can bring up this kind of energy every
time again. The performance triggered my memories and emotions, because I have quite a strong
