errain also offers an incubator program called
Creative Enterprise, which provides participants
in-depth professional development, one-on-one
coaching, access to business resources such as
accountants and lawyers, and mentorship from
local business owners. Artists walk away with a
fully-fledged-out business plan, a step-by-step
path in moving their work forward and a cohort of
other creative professionals dedicated to learning
together and helping each other out.
Open Thursday-Saturday 6pm-8pm, and extended
hours on First Fridays, Terrain Gallery resides
inside the Washington Cracker Building and
hosts monthly visual art shows, artist panels, and
occasional workshops. Over the past two years,
Terrain Gallery has shown the work of 158 local,
national and international artists to thousands of
attendees. Terrain Gallery offers a more formal
gallery space for local artists to show, and is one
of only a handful in the Spokane region. We work
hard to feature work from a diverse group of
individuals, voices, and perspectives.
Adjacent to Terrain Gallery is our shared
Performing Arts Space, where we host
collaborative community projects such as Spokane
Print Fest, Dark Wave Disco, and others. From
theater, to live music shows, literary events, and
dance, we love working with outside partners
to help make these community-building events
happen.
With Window Dressing, Terrain facilitates
site-specific installations in vacant and often
derelict properties. Part beautification program,
part opportunity for artists to showcase their
work publicly, Window Dressing offers artists
a minimum stipend of 500 dollars to generate
activity in these spaces. To date, 52 artists have
transformed 13 different downtown locations.

arts exhibit and music showcase. They’ve helped to build
community. Local artists view Terrain as a launchpad to
make a name for themselves and to make a living in the
growing creative economy of the Inland Northwest.
