Beck’s Harvest House Our first stop was Beck’s Harvest House. The owners are second generation “Beck’s” and they are some of the most hardworking people around. We enjoyed their nice (shaded) patio setups and tried a variety of breakfast and lunch options. If you’re looking for an authentic “Belgium Waffle,” we found one. Their dough is made with love and topped with whatever fruit is currently in season on the bluff. We were lucky enough to visit during strawberry season so we enjoyed our waffle topped with fresh strawberries and smothered in whipped cream! We had to also try some savory options so we went with a couple of their favorites: “Turkey and Cranberry Sandwich,” “Signature Reuben,” a “Club Sandwich,” and a “Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwich.” The “Gourmet Grilled Cheese” is perfect for vegetarians and the “Signature Reuben” was shockingly delicious! We can’t forget to rave about their homemade potato salad. Marilyn Beck has mastered her recipe; don’t ask because it’s a secret, and once you taste it, you’ll see why! Now, the real reason we can’t visit Green Bluff without stopping by Beck’s Harvest House … their famous “Pumpkin Donuts.” If you’ve ever visited during the fall, then you can smell them from a mile away (and that’s pretty much where the line starts). But, be patient, because their donuts are well worth the wait. They literally melt in your mouth and I’d be lying if I told you I haven’t had a dream, or two, about them. You can try their fresh pumpkin donuts during the summer Thursday through Sunday. Also, they have some really great ice cream flavors and a whole shop full of other delicious goods. If you’re there on a day they aren’t serving donuts, try one of their scratch-made pies or blueberry cheesecake! Ours were gone in minutes … not sure how that happened! (Guilty!)
