Walter’s Fruit Ranch
Our second stop was Walter’s Fruit Ranch. Once you take your kids to
Walter’s, they’ll be begging for it to be your first stop on future visits. As
with most Green Bluff farms, Walter’s is pretty low-key, and you’ll spend
most of your time enjoying the outdoor activities like a sand pit, corn
maze, farm animals, and play area. Like Beck’s, they also have an indoor
store full of local treasures and, most importantly, pies that you can take
home for the whole family. Owners Jason and Morghan Morrell are the
second-generation owners and they put so much love and care into their
grounds.
The first lunch dish they served us were gyros. Yes, you heard us right,
they have gyros! You may not expect this dish while on the farm, but we
were thrilled to see them trying something different. During a visit to San
Francisco, Jason had a gyro and knew he had to recreate one in the kitchen
at Walter’s. We were also big fans of the “Cherry Salad” that comes loaded
with bacon and topped with their own “Walla Walla Sweet Onion and
Honey Mustard” dressing, available for purchase in their store.
If your kids want a more traditional meal, they’ll be more than satisfied
with “Walter’s Cheeseburger.” Walter’s Fruit Ranch is famous for their
take and bake pies. There are so many to choose from (32 to be exact). We
really enjoyed the “Peach Huckleberry Pie” served with vanilla ice cream
from Mary Lou’s Milk Bottle.
