HAYDEN ARTS COMMISSION A s you drive north on Highway 95 from Coeur d’Alene you may not realize that you pass through the City of Hayden, not to be confused with the City of Hayden Lake. That’s right — Hayden and Hayden Lake are two separate cities. The City of Hayden has a growing population of almost 15,000, who are proud of their community’s small town feel and small business economy. ABBI SANCHEZ HAYDEN ARTS COMMISSION 8930 N. Government Way. Hayden, Idaho. 83835 In 2006 the City Council established the Hayden Arts Commission. The Commission has been tasked with developing, coordinating, and promoting the performing and visual arts for the enjoyment, cultural enrichment and benefit of Hayden’s citizens and visitors. Over the last 13 years the Commission has accomplished many projects including designing the City of Hayden logo (recently updated), installing stained glass windows at City Hall, procuring three pieces of public art, creating the Hayden Art Gallery and designing street banners along Government Way — Hayden’s central business corridor. It has also bought in a children’s performing arts program the last two years and most recently held its inaugural 5x5 Walk Away with Art Event. PUBLIC ART The procurement of public art could not have been done without the financial support of the Hayden Urban Renewal Agency. We are grateful for this partnership that brought Balance, Dusk to Dawn and Epiphany to Hayden’s central business district. In addition to these art pieces, the Urban Renewal Agency recently provided funding for new spring and summer street banners.
