Mapping Twitter activity and City Twitter Mapping is an increasingly useful method to link virtual activities and geographical space . It shows the dynamics of activities in urban space , such as political events . Geo-tagged tweets that illustrate Twitter users ’ location are an effective resource to analyse the linkage between protests and communications . This presentation focuses on the spatial relationship between the density of geo-tagged tweets and a large anti-government protest in London on 20 June 2015 . The tweets are aggregated to hexagonal grid cells to visualise activity density in different Central London areas . Mapping and visualisation in three dimensions ( 3D ) identify the spatial densities and patterns of the tweets , and provide a comprehensive analysis of the geography of activities during the protest march .
Songdo : the hype and decline of world ’ s first smart city New Songdo City in South Korea has been under construction since 2004 with the objective of becoming the first ubiquitous city or smart city in the world . However , as the aims of New Songdo City have been altered as the project has evolved step by step , the city of $ 35 billion investment has faced severe criticism that it is not the blueprint for the future cities that was expected . This presentation looks at the brief history of New Songdo City in the context of the policy background to make a better environment based on Information and Communication Technologies ( ICTs ) and examines why it is not an ideal urban model through the smart city perspective .
