SERVICE FAMILY ACCOMMODATION( SFA)
Overview
HQ ARRC Service Personnel are eligible to apply for Service Family Accommodation( SFA) or Single Living Accommodation( SLA).
Entitlement to SFA
To be entitled to SFA, Service Personnel( UK and PN) must be over 18 years of age, serving on a regular engagement, have at least six months to serve at the Unit and be Personal Status( PStat) Category 1 or 2 as defined below:
UK Personal Status 1
● They are legally married and living with their spouse, or who would be but for the exigencies of the Services.
● They are registered in a Civil Partnership in accordance with the Civil Partnership Act, or in a Civil Partnership under an overseas scheme recognised under that Act, and are living with their registered civil partner, or would be but for the exigencies of the Services.
UK Personal Status 2
● A service person who is either divorced, widowed or a single parent and has parental responsibility and full residence of the child / children and can properly be regarded as the centre of and prime mover in the child’ s / children’ s life.
In accordance with JSP 752, Service Personnel must be accompanied in the UK by their spouse / civil partner. Entitlement of the Service Person to accompanied status will be reviewed if the immediate family spends less than 9 months at the Residence or Work Address, either continuous or aggregated, over a 12-month period.
Participating Nations( PNs) Personnel Applying for SFA
Participating Nations’ personnel are advised that the use of SFA is not mandatory and is a National / personal choice. Please contact your Senior National Representative( SNR) if you have any questions regarding your Nation’ s preference for accommodation.
There are several SFA sites for personnel based at Imjin Barracks; details of the areas can be obtained from the HQ ARRC Housing Officer( HO).
To apply for SFA, contact the HQ ARRC Housing Officer( HO) by email at Allison. clayton100 @ mod. gov. uk or arrcphq-pnpolicycell-mailbox @ mod. gov. uk.
The HO will explain the application process, the forms and certificates required and will send you an MOD Form 1132( Application to Apply for Service Family Accommodation) and a Confirmation of Entitlement to Apply for SFA document.
Please complete the Form 1132 and provide the HO a copy of your Marriage / Civil Partnership Certificate. The Confirmation of Entitlement to Apply for SFA document must be approved and signed by your SNR.
When you have completed the 1132 form, and received a signed Confirmation of Entitlement form, send them along with a copy of your Marriage / Civil Partnership Certificate to the HO. This should be done around 3 months before your assignment date to HQ ARRC.
Applications from PN personnel MUST be processed through the HO. This is to ensure that the application form is completed correctly and the relevant paperwork attached to avoid delays in allocating SFA. The HO can assist you if there is a problem with your application.
Living in SFA – are you insured?
When living in SFA, occupants are strongly recommended to arrange insurance for:
a. Their potential liability to DIO Accommodation up to a maximum of £ 20,000. As personnel occupy SFA and Substitute Service Family Accommodation( SSFA) under a Service Licence to Occupy agreement( known as a Licence to Occupy) they are not classed as a tenant and therefore standard home insurance policies do not cover the potential liability.
The Services Insurance & Investment Advisory Panel( SIIAP) has provided a web page detailing several insurance providers who can organise policies that have been designed specifically for SFA occupants.
The web page can be found at www. siiap. org / members-directory /.
b. Their personal property and that of any spouse / civil partner or child( ren).

Requested House Type And Location
Housing SP posted to Imjin Barracks in a house and area of their choice poses difficulties at any time of the year. Although every effort will always be made to achieve a SP’ s aspiration, this is not always possible. On occasion there is simply insufficient housing stock available in the desired location.
Family Outreach Meetings
Representatives from Pinnacle, Vivo, Welfare and the HQ ARRC HO hold monthly Outreach Meetings in conjunction with Coffee Mornings on the last Friday of every month in the Innsworth Community Centre.
These meetings provide an opportunity for anyone experiencing SFA issues to discuss matters directly with the contractors responsible for SFA repair and maintenance.
Details of the dates and times of the meetings can be found in HQ ARRC Bulletin and on the Imjin Station Community Facebook site.

Vacating SFA
It is important to note that SFA Pre-Move Out( PMO) and Move Out( MO) appointments should be made by the occupant as soon as possible after receiving their Assignment Order.
PMO should be booked 4 months before end of tour and there must be at least four weeks between PMO and MO appointments. SFAs cannot be reallocated until the resident has booked both appointments and a PMO has taken place.
Any delay in booking either appointment has significant knock-on effects. Not only does it hamper the HO’ s ability to identify vacant properties to ensure a timely and efficient Move In plan, but it can also:
● Prevent a SP being allocated a property in the location of their choice.
● Condense the time needed for an individual from both the UK and overseas to organise their travel and house move arrangements.
● Potentially cause children of school age to miss the start of the new academic year.
● Disrupt a SP’ s Induction Training into ARRC.
Outgoing residents should also be aware that on departure of SFA, Pinnacle and Vivo contractually have 20 working days to make ready a property for the next resident adding further delay to the Move In process.
If you have any queries about the application process, booking PMOs and MOs or other housing issues, please do email the HO: allison. clayton100 @ mod. gov. uk
Redirect your mail
To redirect your mail to your next address, see the link below for full information, application form and costs( note at least 5 working days’ notification is required): www. royalmail. com / personal / receivingmail / redirection
Previous occupants’ mail
If you receive mail addressed to the previous occupant, cross through the address and write:‘ Not known / no longer at this address. Return to Sender’ and put the letter into a post-box( note it is illegal to open the correspondence).
Utility Bills. If the correspondence is from a Utility Company e. g., gas, electricity, water, please take the correspondence to the Pinnacle Housing Officer or you can scan it to the HQ ARRC HO. Either HO will assist you.
