Serving PN personnel( and accompanying dependents) posted to HQ ARRC and the respective NSEs, are eligible for refund of VAT( Value Added Tax) on their Durable Goods for the duration of their tour. Durable Goods are mainly those that are capable of use for more than a year, and refund of their VAT is processed by means of a quarterly paperwork submission.
A nominated Tax Rep from each Contingent collects and compiles each submission and is also a single point of contact for all communications relating to VAT refunds.
It is recommended that End of Tour( EoT) invoices are retained from first day of posting. EoT items encompass mainly white goods( fridge, freezer, dishwasher), as well as electrical items that require electrical mains to power them, valued at £ 100 and over. EOT invoices are submitted as part of return during the last quarter of posting.
The PN Pol Cell offers tax Workshops for all new PN staff during their Induction week. Rich Moore also offers one-on-one sessions that aim to provide the individual with the knowledge they need at the start of their tour … That said, questions are always welcome by email to richard. moore114 @ mod. gov. uk or in person to the PN Pol Cell in Room S. 76( Blgd 255).
