ASC Presidents Introduction
As the vibrant colours of autumn paint our surroundings and the evenings grow cosier, it’ s a pleasure to introduce myself as both the Commander’ s wife and President of the ARRC Social Club( ASC).
A heartfelt welcome to all who joined the ARRC over the summer months. Whether you’ re settling in for the first time or returning after time away, we’ re so pleased to have you as part of our vibrant, international community.
Dear Friends, Welcome to Our Community
By Monica Marinari
The Cultural Events group is delighted to welcome you to our vibrant community of military spouses. Living far from home can be challenging, but here you’ ll find friendship, support, and shared experiences that make life brighter. Every tradition and story adds to the rich mosaic of our group, and our events are designed to celebrate that diversity.
Cooking Together: Flavors from Around the World Our cooking sessions are all about connection. Small groups of six take turns hosting and sharing a special recipe— no need to be a chef, just bring your enthusiasm. Last year’ s masterclasses at the Community Centre were a hit, with homemade pasta, panzerotti, and crepes. This year, we’ re excited to try new dishes. In December, we’ ll kick off with a cookie exchange: bring your favorite or traditional cookies, share the recipe, and leave with a tray of treats from around the world.
Creativity and Tradition: Workshops for the Soul Crafting together brings joy and connection. Felted wool workshops will help us create cheerful autumn ghosts and magical Christmas angels. In spring, our Greek friends will lead a session on coloring Easter eggs— a tradition that brings cultures together. These workshops are simple, fun, and open to all.
A Journey Through Local History We’ re surrounded by fascinating stories. Last year’ s Tudor-themed evenings were a highlight, and this November we’ ll continue exploring history with relaxed, engaging sessions. If you have a passion for the past or ideas for outings, we’ d love to hear them.
You’ re Invited Whether you’ re new or have been here for years, come join us. No experience needed— just a willingness to connect and share. Find event details on our Facebook page or WhatsApp group. We can’ t wait to welcome you.
This summer, we were delighted to see so many of you at the fabulous International Families Day. It was a joy to experience the wide variety of national foods and drinks— always a highlight of our calendar! My husband and I truly enjoyed meeting so many of you, and we already look forward to next year’ s event, as well as the King’ s Birthday Reception, another wonderful occasion.
Now, as the season changes, there’ s something magical about autumn here. The crisp air, golden leaves, and quiet moments by a warm pub fire with family and friends make it one of my favourite times of year. It’ s also a season of reflection, as we look back on a busy and fulfilling year.
I’ d like to extend my sincere gratitude to all who volunteer on the ARRC Social Club Committee. Your dedication and generosity are the foundation of our community spirit. The events, gatherings, and support networks we enjoy would not be possible without your time and energy.
Our social club thrives because of people like you— those willing to lend a hand, share ideas, and help make ARRC a warm and welcoming home for everyone. If you’ re thinking about getting involved, we’ d love to have your support as we plan ahead for the coming year.
I wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
