The Windows 11( WIN11) migration programme officially closed on 14 November 2025, marking a significant milestone in the transition to the new operating system. Over the course of the migration, the dedicated team successfully swapped out more than 600 laptops and provided support to numerous personnel experiencing issues during the process.
However, despite these efforts, over 600 personnel did not book a migration slot for WIN11 before the deadline. At the time of writing, it remains unclear whether the migration clinic will be extended or if a new clinic will be established to accommodate those who missed the initial window.
If you are among those who have not yet migrated to WIN11, there are two options available to you:
Option 1: Wait for Further Updates
You can choose to wait and see if the migration window will be extended or if another migration clinic will be set up. Keep an eye on official communications for updates regarding this possibility.
Option 2: Book a Slot at Another Location
Alternatively, you can book a migration slot at a different site. To do this:
• Access the booking tool and input your Laptop LT number or PUID to confirm your details.
• On the second screen, scroll to the bottom and click on“ All Locations” to view a list of available sites.
For Device Swaps:
If you require a device swap, you can book a slot at a location close to you, such as Abbey Wood in Bristol, and arrange to collect your new device there.
For Self-Start Upgrades:
If you are completing a self-start upgrade, you can book a slot at any location. Once booked, you will receive an email from the WIN11 Migration Team with detailed instructions on how to proceed.
Final Thoughts
The migration to Windows 11 is a critical step in ensuring that systems remain secure, efficient, and up to date. If you have not yet migrated, it is essential to act as soon as possible to avoid potential disruptions to your work.
For further assistance or questions, contact the WIN11 Migration Team or refer to the booking tool for guidance. Stay tuned for updates regarding any potential extensions or new migration clinics.
EWSI Project
Exciting Developments: Defence Estate Optimisation at Imjin Barracks
Imjin Barracks is poised for a significant transformation as plans to relocate 14 Signal Regiment and 21 Signal Regiment to the site. This ambitious project, currently out for public planning consultation, represents a key milestone in the Defence Estate Optimisation programme and the evolution of the barracks’ operational capabilities.
The groundwork for this major development has already begun, with the delivery of the contractor’ s stores now underway. This preparatory phase lays the foundation for enabling works, scheduled to commence in April 2026. These works will include cordoning off specific areas and the removal of the wooden huts opposite the Gym, clearing the way for the next stage of construction.
Construction is set to begin at the end of 2026, with the project expected to be completed by the summer of 2030. Once finished, the new facilities will provide a modern, state-of-the-art home for the two Signal Regiments, significantly enhancing the operational infrastructure at Imjin Barracks and supporting the critical work of these units.
This project represents a substantial investment in the future of the barracks and the surrounding community. The public planning consultation process ensures that local stakeholders can engage with the plans, provide feedback, and understand the scope and impact of the development.
As the project progresses, regular updates will be shared to keep all stakeholders informed of key milestones and developments. The relocation of 14 Signal Regiment and 21 Signal Regiment to Imjin Barracks is not merely a construction project, it is a vital step in strengthening the operational capabilities and resilience of the armed forces.
We eagerly anticipate the realisation of this exciting vision and look forward to welcoming 14 Signal Regiment and 21 Signal Regiment to their new home in the years ahead. This transformation will undoubtedly mark a new chapter in the proud history of Imjin Barracks.
