Local Families Are Grateful for Your Partnership!
Deici loves her three children— Angel, 4, David, 2, and little Fatima, 1— more than anything. She does her best to make sure they have the tools they need to succeed, like providing engaging activities and healthy food.
Her husband, Jesus, supports the family as a construction worker. He and Deici are smart shoppers and do a good job making their budget stretch. But, with three growing children and slow work with the uncertain spring weather, the couple has faced struggles lately.
We met Deici on a visit to Metrocrest Services, one of the North Texas Food Bank’ s Partner Agencies in Farmers Branch. Metrocrest’ s food pantry offers nutritious foods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, in a recently improved refrigerated shopping area much like a grocery store. These improvements, which are part of the North Texas Food Bank’ s 10-year plan to distribute 92 million meals by 2025, were made possible thanks to ClubCorp’ s generous support of the Stop Hunger Build Hope capital campaign.
As Deici looked through Metrocrest’ s full shelves of healthy groceries, she chatted about how helpful the food pantry has been for her family since a friend told her about it last year.

Deici says she only stops by the pantry when her financial situation becomes dire. We met

her toward the end of the month, and she told us the family was almost out of money.
Living paycheck to paycheck is especially challenging when caring for young children. Deici and Jesus want to make sure Angel, David and Fatima are well cared for— but it’ s incredibly stressful when they can’ t always cover their basic needs.
That’ s why they’ re so grateful to have your support. Deici was able to fill her cart with all kinds of fresh, healthy food— including eggplant, pears, bananas and lean meat— which will keep her kids full and happy. Little Angel starts kindergarten this fall, and with your help, he’ ll begin the school year ready to learn. His mom was excited to take a moment to share her thanks for your generosity.
