ACT completed the grant period under budget due to underspending. Funds were not reallocated due to the timeline of marketing activities pushing the largest projects to the end of the grant period. These projects were at the end of the grant period because of the time required to build partner relationships and secure quality assets, trail data, and content to complete new print projects and programming activities such as Coffee and Tourism or Aroostook County ATV Map. The majority of underspending occurred in Photo and Asset Development, Domestic Trade Shows, Website Development, and Other,
ACT has overspending in advertorial / print advertising; this activity combined Canadian Advertising and revenue from ad sales. The additional print placements and advertorial buys were steeply discounted and additional offers were made, if the discounts and add-ons were calculated out it would be greater than the amount of funds paid for print advertising and this would show as program match.
• ACT generated $ 2,400 in ad placement revenue from the“ Aroostook County ATV Map” project; this total was greater than the $ 2,000 goal set in the grant request. $ 2,400 in ad space was granted to ACT Partners( MOT, Aroostook Partnership, and Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife).
• ACT generated $ 5,300 in ad placement revenue from the“ Aroostook: Official Travel Guide” project; this total was greater than the $ 2,000 goal set in the grant request. $ 200 in ad space was granted to ACT Partners( MOT).
• ACT generated $ 13,100 in ad placement revenue from the“ Maine Invites You Coop Advertising” project; this total was greater than the $ 4,800 goal set in the grant request.
• ACT generated $ 6,000 in Cash Match from NMDC staff time for program support. $ 480 in the donation of two nights at the Best Western Caribou Inn, $ 7,750 SuperTrax increased a one-page ad in one publication to two-page spreads in both the Canadian and US publications and email blast, Bangor International Airport baggage claim advertising, WAGM broadcast advertising, and many other expanded ad buys.
• ACT generated $ 13,160 in-kind work from board member time.
• ACT has funds remaining in Photo and Video Asset Development. $ 1,800 remains as ACT did not identify quality creative assets needed for specific projects.
• ACT has funds remaining in Other. $ 1,267.41 remains as paid advertising for the promotion was underspent.
• ACT has funds remaining in Domestic Trade Shows. $ 4,844.67 remains as ACT purchased new booth equipment for trade shows that came in under budget due to sales, free shipping, and discount codes.
• ACT has funds remaining in Website Development. $ 6,101.22 remains as this work was not able to be completed due to extensive delays on the new visitaroostook. com website build.
