Opening up about your
vulnerabilities is both daunting and
difficult. Some of us have never truly
opened up about everything, even to
those people we feel are the closest
to our hearts. The fact that SUGA
has been as open as he has with
both his artistry and his platform is
truly an act of bravery. He has grown
into the artist we admire today
because he has faced his fears
and his doubts, and is continually
doing so. Saying exactly what is
on his mind made him into the
role model we ARMYs esteem so
deeply.
Since the beginning, SUGA has
been a true artist. Once he realized
music was his calling, he decided to
pursue it despite the difficulty. It was
hard for him to get to his dream,
but all the trials he faced eventually
led him to Big Hit Entertainment
and, later, to BTS. As a member of
BTS, SUGA added his emotional
and socially conscious thoughts
to their music which now heals
ARMYs from all over the world. With
also his own music as Agust D, he
opened up and presented himself
to his listeners in a both honest and
vulnerable way. We were able to
hear from himself his struggles as he
addressed his mental health issues
and expressed his emotions about
being an idol. This was one of the
points in which so many fans began
to relate to him on a deeper level.
SUGA extended his hand to
us, told us he understood, and
showed that he was there with us.
Listening to him address his
struggle with anxiety and depression
puts these issues into perspective
as human circumstances of life. In
the February 2018 interview with
Billboard, SUGA said "I really want
to say that everyone in the world is
lonely and everyone is sad ... " He
