“Hope World”, the titular intro, is a
groovy track with literary references
throughout to Jules Verne’s
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the
Sea which lets the listeners submerge
into J-Hope’s world as they dive into the
mixtape and explore. The track opening
to the sound of bubbles heightens this
emotion. E
ntranced by Verne’s story as
a kid, the d
ancer-rapper reaffirms ties to
who he has been and continues to be as
a person.
The shortest track off the mixtape that
led to the popular #BaselineChallenge,
“Baseline” showcases J-Hope’s stronger
rap style. A chilled out, definite bop
through and through, this track with
its smart bass drop encompasses the
rhythm and energy of both the street
dancer Jung Hoseok and rapper J-Hope.
“항상 (Hangsang)” ft. Supreme Boi and
“Airplane” are tracks tied down to the
idol life J-Hope experiences alongside
his fellow bandmates as part of BTS.
Although the tracks bear a stark
contrast in tonality and mood, they share
the common feeling of being at the top of
the world.
