Versatility
From the dance battle in AHL to his
occasional Hope on the Street videos,
Hoseok loves to explore many different
styles and genres such as Hip Hop,
House, Popping, Locking, Waving,
Animation, Botting and even
some Waacking.
With the exception of Hip Hop and
House, the rest of the styles fall
under funk which is usually paired with
funk music from the 60s-70s. Funk
styles have techniques and nuances
unique to each type and come with
different music to go along with it.
Hoseok demonstrates immense
versatility by taking these various styles
and dancing to an impressive variety of
music, from EDM to Michael Jackson.
Sense of Rhythm
Groove is the base of any street style.
It can’t really be taught - it has to
be felt.
No matter the genre, dance portrays
the music and as such dance should
always follow the music. J-Hope
definitely follows the music.
The most notable choreography
where Hoseok nailed his groove is in
“Mic Drop.” From start to end, it was
J-Hope’s time to shine. His rhythm
was natural, not practiced. He felt
the music, and it was apparent in his
bounce. It’s so ingrained into him that
he transforms stages which might not
have choreography into performances
with the way he grooves, effectively
displaying his ‘swag.’
