noticeable. “SAVE ME” maintains a non-linear narrative - going back and forth between the past and present. It is told strictly from Seokjin’s POV. However “The Notes”, which were released over the span of one year through the “Love Yourself” albums and on Big Hit’s official Twitter, consist of 66 chronological entries which take into account each character’s narration. The stark difference, apart from the illustrative emphasis, between “The Notes” and “SAVE ME” is the execution of the timeline. “SAVE ME” takes place on the days 11 April YEAR 22 and 22 May YEAR 22, which is understood to be the main timeline loop in BU. The webtoon quite directly and constantly 36 conforms to the much rumoured Jin’s time travel theory within the fandom. Conflicting with that, “The Notes” maps the lives of the seven boys, dated as early as YEAR 10 up to YEAR 22. “The Notes” give the reader an idea of what’s happening below the surface. However, Seokjin’s time travelling can only be assumed from the note titled SEOKJIN 11 April YEAR 22. This contrast also points out the timelines Seokjin travels in “SAVE ME”, showing multiple versions of how the story can play out on the same day. It remains unconfirmed if the events described in “The Notes” are from multiple timelines of the universe due to Seokjin’s actions. An exception to this is Seokjin’s notes dated 30 August YEAR 22 that provide two versions of the same event (confirmed via the “Highlight Reels”).
