“Spine Breaker” is a song that
dives into the topic of being
ungrateful and the difference that
society makes between those
who have and those who do not.
It talks about how ungrateful one
can be towards their parents who
work hard for them, meanwhile,
all they do is want more and
more. The song also highlights
how teens often fall into the
trap of wanting to fit in and to
gain status through what they
wear and what they can afford.
However, having things just
makes you a person with physical
possessions, it does not fill you
up as a person and it certainly
does not help those who work
hard to afford such things.
A song like “Jump” keeps a fast
pace that will make you jump
to the beat. “Jump” talks about
growing up and how it can be
hard. It also speaks about how
we can still remain dreamers like
when we were kids, and spread
our wings towards a happier
future. “Where You From”/“Where
Did You Come From?” is a flirty
song with a unique beat. “Cypher
Part 2: Triptych” is a rap song
that becomes part of the cypher
family, in which BTS get to
express their replies to those who
throw hate at them. “Intro: Skool
Luv Affair” and “Outro: Propose”
are love letters from the anxious
hearts of those with crushes with
a hip-hop/pop beat.
This album continued their career
as voices for those who couldn’t
find theirs. Their genuine thoughts
were well received and kept close
to every ARMY, and anyone who
can relate to their message.
With this work, they showed
the early stages of love and
the early stages feeling
lost, thus continuing the
journey towards love and self-
acceptance.
