ARMED
ARMED is a jewelry brand that is unapologetically
bold and never goes unnoticed. The brand was
born in 2011 and is the love child of Desiree
Girlato, a self-taught Toronto based jewelry
designer and conceptual artist. Girlato has grown
her business from her dining room table to her
flagship store at 1024 Dundas Street West in
Toronto.
ARMED is handmade one of a kind jewelry that
is not only rendered with quality material and
workmanship, but it is notably unique. Since the
material is sourced far and wide from locales such
as Tucson, Arizona to Chennai, India, ARMED
effortlessly stands out amongst others in the
industry. The brand was built to push boundaries
and that is exactly what Girlato strives to do with
each collection; by introducing non-traditional
material into each piece such as horse hair, boar
tusk and most recently fossilized shark teeth for
Spring/Summer ‘14.
The motivation behind ARMED is to
empower women to seek out their fullest potential
by seizing every day through attitude and style.
ARMED jewelry is not designed solely for special
occasions; but intended to be worn casually and
effortlessly, in a sense to “Always be ARMED”.
This young designer has a fresh perspective and
philanthropic values (Project H.O.P.E.) that have
gained her a loyal following both in and outside of
the fashion community.
