AIRPORT MARKETABILITY
An objective of this Development Plan is to provide strategies for the economic enhancement of Ar‐
lington Municipal Airport through the marketability of existing and proposed airport assets. As it has
done in the past, airport management should continue to work with local economic development
agencies to attract aviation operators to the Airport. It is important for an airport to monitor trends in
aviation demand and best position the facility to capture any growing demand that might be occurring
in its service area. The following describes the aviation assets available at Arlington Municipal Airport
and generalizes marketing strategies that could maximize their potential.
AIRPORT ASSETS
Airport facilities at Arlington Municipal Airport to include airside and landside infrastructure were pre‐
viously detailed in Chapter One. These facilities are essential to the daily operation of an airport in or‐
der to accommodate aircraft, pilots, passengers, and businesses that utilize the facility.
Terminal Building
The terminal building is centrally located on the east side of the airfield, providing ideal access to the
runway and taxiway system at Arlington Municipal Airport. The two‐story facility encompasses approx‐
imately 15,200 square feet of enclosed space and includes areas for airport administration and opera‐
tions, a conference room, public lobby, restrooms, and multiple commercial business leaseholds.
Aircraft Storage Hangars
Aircraft storage hangars at Arlington Municipal Airport are comprised of conventional, executive, T‐
hangars, and linear box hangars. The linear box hangars typically provide space for the private storage
of one aircraft. Conventional hangars provide a large open space and have the capability to store sev‐
eral aircraft and are often utilized by businesses, such as fixed base operators (FBOs) and specialized
aviation service operators (SASOs). Executive hangars provide the same type of storage needs as con‐
ventional hangars, but are typically smaller than 10,000 square feet. T‐hangars and linear box hangars
provide separate aircraft storage facilities within a larger hangar complex and are typically utilized for
private aircraft storage.
The 11 conventional hangars on the Airport comprise approximately 330,000 square feet. This in‐
cludes 156,000 square feet of hangar space that is used specifically for Bell Helicopter’s operational
activities. There are two executive hangars that total approximately 18,400 square feet. The remain‐
ing hangar facilities at the Airport include a mix of T‐hangars and linear box hangars that provide an
additional 247,200 square feet of space. All total, 595,600 square feet of enclosed storage hangar
space is provided.
