Based Aircraft 

Identifying the current number of based aircraft is important to airport planning analysis, yet it can be 
challenging because of the transient nature of aircraft storage.  Airport management maintains a rec‐
ord of aircraft based on the Airport.  There are currently 254 aircraft

CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT HISTORY 

To assist in funding capital improvements, the FAA and TxDOT have provided funding assistance to Ar‐
lington Municipal Airport through the AIP.  The AIP is funded through the Aviation Trust Fund, estab‐
lished in 1970 to provide funding for aviation capital investments such as facilities and equipment, as 
well  as research  and  development.    The  State of  Texas  participates  in  the  FAA  Block  Grant  Program, 
which  empowers  TxDOT  with  oversight  responsibilities,  including  the  distribution  of  FAA  funding,  to 
general  aviation  airports  in  Texas.    In  addition,  TxDOT  provides  grant  funding  assistance  through  the 
Highway  Trust  Fund  as  the  Texas  Aviation  Facilities  Development  Program  and  through  the  Routine 
Airport Maintenance Program (RAMP).

Utilities are a critical element when considering future expansion capabilities for an airport.  The avail‐
ability  and  capacity  of  utilities  serving  an  airport  are  factors  in  determining  development  potential.
