Project #5: Implement LED Technology on Airfield Lighting and Signage
Description: Implement LED lighting on appropriate runway and taxiway edge lighting and signage sys‐
tems. As previously discussed, this project could be broken out and programmed with the reconstruc‐
tion/rehabilitation of runway and taxiway pavements on the airfield.
Funding Eligibility: FAA/TxDOT – 90 percent / Local – 10 percent.
Project #6: Construct T‐Hangar Facility and Taxilane Access in Southeast Development Area – Phase II
Description: This project includes the Phase II development of a second T‐hangar facility (approximate‐
ly 20 units) and taxilane access serving the facility in the southeast development area that could ac‐
commodate small aircraft storage hangar demand at the Airport.
Funding Eligibility: FAA/TxDOT – 0 percent / Local – 100 percent. Proposed funding is based on a simi‐
lar assumption to the Phase I development programmed in the short term CIP. If the T‐hangar devel‐
opment projects are not constructed by the Airport, it can be assumed that the City will pursue private
development of aircraft storage hangars.
Project #7: Redevelop City T‐Hangar Area (Remove T‐Hangars / Reconstruct Aircraft Parking Apron)
Description: Remove four existing City‐owned T‐hangars and reconstruct portions of the apron area in
order to prepare it for future private development associated with high‐use aviation activities.
Funding Eligibility: FAA/TxDOT – 75 percent / Local – 25 percent. The cost associated with the removal
of the T‐hangars is programmed at 100 percent local share. The remaining costs that would be applied
to the reconstruction of the apron space to accommodate aviation‐related activities are eligible for
FAA/TxDOT assistance at 90 percent of total project costs.
Project #8: In‐Fill Apron Areas Adjacent to East Side of Taxiway A / Construct No‐Taxi Island
Description: In‐fill two grass areas with pavement between Taxiway A and existing City‐owned T‐
hangar facilities. This would provide increased efficiency associated with aircraft traversing the area in
the event that the T‐hangars are removed and higher‐use aviation activities occur. In addition, a no‐
taxi island would need to be painted to discourage direct access from the apron area to Runway 16‐34
via Taxiway C.
Funding Eligibility: FAA/TxDOT – 90 percent / Local – 10 percent.
Project #9: Construct Rotorcraft TLOF Facility
Description: To better accommodate rotorcraft activities as well as to increase the airfield’s capacity,
an independent touch‐down and lift‐off (TLOF) area is proposed on the west side of the Airport adja‐
cent to the south side of the existing Bell Helicopter leasehold. The TLOF area must maintain clearance
from landside development, and in doing so, would restrict certain areas from supporting future land‐
side revenue development.
Funding Eligibility: FAA/TxDOT – 90 percent / Local – 10 percent.
Project #10: Construct Box Hangars in Northeast Development Area
Description: The construction of four small box hangars is programmed during the long term CIP in the
northeast area of the Airport. Airfield access to the hangars would be provided via Taxiway A1 and ve‐
hicle access could be provided by the adjacent entrance/exit road extending west of South Collins
Street.
