MORTIMER FARMS Invites You to Their Annual Sweet Corn Harvest Party L ocally owned Mortimer Farms announces it will be hosting their annual Sweet Corn Harvest Party the weekend of August 27th and 28th. Gary and Sharla Mortimer said the harvest weekend will feature everything “CORN!” This year once again they are asking for everyone attending to bring 2 non perishable food items for the Yavapai Food Bank. Lynn Passfield from the Yavapai County Food Bank is glad to be “partnering again with the Mortimer Family”. The entry to the party is $3.00 per person with children under 3 free. There will also be FREE parking and lots of good old fashion fun! The party starts at 10:00 am and ends at 6 pm. The harvest party weekend will have something for the entire family: Just picked fresh corn, delicious roasted corn, corn bath and LOTS more! Enjoy a hay ride to the corn field and pick your own corn. Test your skills with a corn eating competition, corn shucking competition, & corn toss with prizes being awarded. Join Farmer Buzz on a hayride tour of the farm with lots of stories and history about this amazing region. The farm is located on the southwest corner of 69 and 169 in Dewey, Arizona. The farm hosts weddings, birthday parties, corporate retreats, family reunions; intimate anniversary parties (down by the river), church and youth group gatherings; Boy and Girl Scout troops plus educational school field trips. The farm can be reached by calling 928 830-1116 or email at: [email protected]. The new addition this year is the brand new farm PARK! The park recently opened with a ribbon cutting by both the Prescott and Prescott Valley chamber of commerce. The park includes lots of old fashion farm rides from buckaroo pony to a giant slide on the big old hill. The park is surrounded with antique tractor displays for great picture taking ideas. The Mortimer family created the park for families to have fun year round and build memories for generations to come. The Mortimer Family continues the tradition of creating memories for families on their 300 acre farm. Mortimer Farms conserve water and recycle 100% of ALL food grown on their land. Their main goal is to share their love and passion for agriculture while educating others, especially children. Accomplishing these goals cannot be done without the delightful support shown by their farm friends from around the state. The July/August issue of Martha Stewart magazine featured THE farm in their article “Best Things to See, Eat and Experience from Coast to Coast”. The Farm Store is open daily from 8 am to 6 pm and features fresh country baked PIES, COOKIES and of course the delicious homemade fudge in a variety of flavors. Their baked goods utilize farm fresh ingredients, making everything from scratch. The vegetables are arriving daily in the store and are loaded with sweet corn, tomatoes, squash, peppers, okra and other summer vegetables grown on the farm. Both days during the party they will offer a special harvest meal for $7.00 per person to include yummy farm fresh sandwich, side dish, sweet corn, drink and delicious dessert homemade at the farm.
