COURSE DESIGN There were a series of lectures that the course team knew would be low in attendance and so these were recorded for the students. The course team were aware that the type and amount of reading for the course might be quite challenging for the MOOC students and so they created lectures about the course readings and also added these to the MOOC. SUCCESSES The on campus students benefitted from having additional online lectures which was something that they had never had before. Himpele reported that the lecturers claimed that as a direct result of the recorded lectures there was a significant improvement in the quality of the writings for the on campus students. The difference in performance was so great that they were left in no doubt that the videoed lectures were the cause. NETWORKS ILLUSTRATED : PRINCIPLES WITHOUT CALCULUS Academic: Mung Chiang Lectures were available online for the MOOC students and for the on campus cohort each session throughout the course there were different kinds of activities for each of the 80 minute sessions. This was a highly interactive course which used the lectures as a base for discussion in the class. COURSE DESIGN Question and Answer sessions.
