he new head office for Cube Route Logistics, a pet food distribution company offering logistics services
countrywide and into southern Africa, is an AAA grade office block of roughly 600 square metres with
a warehousing and e-Pet store facility measuring approximately 9000 square metres. The prominent
Malibongwe Drive frontage created an opportunity to design an office building that would catch the
attention of daily commuters.
A simple conventional skeletal approach to the structure was inversed, and the architects pushed the
structure to the exterior of the building, thereby removing one layer of columns on each facade from the
intierior and creating interesting shapes on the walls with balconies and terraces, whilst also protecting the
facade from the elements.
AOJ are also responsible for the interiors of the Cube Route Logistics offices, unifying two operations into
one elegant, functional space. Laying out the departments for efficient operation, as well as including
training and consulting rooms formed part of the brief. As the office component has a geometric facade
which 'steps back' in some places, the interiors were designed to complement those lines and angles to
create a contemporary workspace.
