Agri-hubs throughout the province , led by cooperatives , will be encouraged to supply produce to the market , which will give them direct access to new markets and opportunities . In this way , small-scale growers will be better incorporated into the mainstream economy .
Among the facilities that the market offers are open trading halls for fruit and vegetables , cold storage , ripening facilities , pallet handling , processing facilities , an export hall and bulkbreaking facilities . Linked services such as customs , transport and logistics , banks and restaurants will support main activities .
The development has created over 1,000 jobs , with more expected once the market starts operating . This project has injected approximately R400 million into the local economy , significantly enhancing regional development .
