SVA International : Celebrating 78 Years
SVA International was established in 1943 as Stauch and Partners by the well-known and influential Bauhaus trained architect , Hellmut Stauch .
Today , 78 years later , SVA International has steadily grown into a leading national practice with offices in Cape Town , Johannesburg , Durban and Port Elizabeth and contributing as a level 1 B-BBEE company . Our 75 + staff compliment is made up of professional architects , project managers and urban designers , supported by experienced administrative staff in each region .
In 2021 , our current management team proudly steered the company toward obtaining its Level 1 B-BBEE Certification . Together with our Level 1 B-BBEE partners , GIBB Engineering , we are dedicated to transformation within the building industry in South Africa .
Our footprint across the African continent has rapidly expanded over the last 15 years , with strong client relationships and completed projects in numerous African cities . This is proof of our vision statement : “ To be the preferred architectural practice in Africa , offering an inclusive design led service , while providing creative and viable solutions for our clients .”
The practice offers a comprehensive range of services under urban design and architecture , including architectural project management , with recent award-winning projects illustrating SVAi ’ s commitment to quality design and long-term beneficial relationships with each of our clients .
Most recently SAPOA awarded SVAi with the following recognition : SAPOA Award for Innovative Excellence in the Retail Development - Small Boutique Category , Constantia Emporium ( 2020 ), and SAPOA Transformation Award , CTICC2 ( 2019 ), and the SAPOA Office Refurbishments Award , 33 Baker Street ( 2019 ).
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has encouraged SVAi to develop hybrid workfrom-home solutions for our management and staff , ensuring ongoing high-levels of project production and delivery . When safe and appropriate , face-to-face design workshops and client meetings still happen at our shared SVAi / GIBB regional offices .
On the road towards digital transformation , SVAi remains dedicated to our pursuit to be at the forefront of BIM technology , and the structuring of project teams and project delivery via REVIT and associated software . In-house training ensures that staff remain upskilled in the latest design and production platforms .
Our national leadership team remains focused on regional talent development within the company , with the ambition to facilitate professional careers , structuring skilled and stable production teams , and cultivate thoughtleaders within our professional fields .
