Limpopo . Completed in 2019 , the refurbished Masingita Mall includes and impressive food court and cinema offering – the first of its kind in the region . The mammoth structure is not only a pleasure to behold , but the increased GLA ( Gross Lettable Area ) meets the ever-increasing needs of local consumers as well as long distance travellers .
The Group ’ s founder and chairman , Dr Mike Nkuna , takes a hands-on approach in dealing with every department within his organisation . He is personally involved at every level , greeting each staff member every day when he enters the office , and he still conducts regular visits to each mall to ensure he is aware of what is happening within the communities his centres service .
His visionary leadership and drive to succeed fuels the Group ’ s success and its relentless will to achieve . ‘ Forty-five years ago , I dreamt of becoming an influential property developer in the country ,’ he says . ‘ I remember walking on the streets of Johannesburg , seeing the Carlton Centre and saying , “ One day I ’ m going build a high-rise building like the Carlton Centre .”’ Dr Nkuna also holds a firm belief that strength comes from unity , and it is only together with his staff and their hard work that he can achieve . ‘ One is not in business only for themselves , but most importantly to uplift and touch other people ’ s lives .’
It is because his vision and leadership that the Group continues to thrive and continues to break ground on new and exciting projects . Most notably , Nkuna Kraal in Nkuzana , Limpopo , and
Morena Mall in Mafikeng and Masingita Freedom Park in Freedom Park in the North West .
Morena Mall , a 9,500m 2 convenience centre , will be anchored by Shoprite , Roots and Cashbuild and include a variety of fashion , services and fast food retailers . The centre is set to open in April 2022 . Nkuna Kraal , an 18,000m 2 centre , will open in two phases , starting in April 2022 , and will also be anchored by Shoprite and Cashbuild . The centre will service the many villages surrounding the site , providing easy access to essential goods , fashion , footwear and other services . Masingita Freedom Park , a 4,000m 2 convenience centre , will service the ever-growing Freedom Park development in the North West and is earmarked to open towards the end of 2022 .
