NORTH EAST ELEVATION
The Rotunda The rotunda is roofed by a timber-clad steel structure which makes reference to a compass , the underside of an umbrella or to a Daddy- Long-Legs . The focal centre of the compass supports a digitally linked wind-vane , which shifts to the visitors ’ delight with the changing winds .
The floor of the atrium , featuring the star of a compass and stainless steel inlays , denotes the cardinal points . In order to emphasise the traveller orientation and its very name - Clock Tower - sixteen clocks are mounted along the radials , noting the current times in prominent cities around the world .
One side of the atrium is clad in a triple-storey curtain wall , which provides easy visible contact between the interior of the retail centre and the activities in the Clock Tower Square and beyond . The South Mole link between the atrium and the South Arrivals Plaza provides for line shops and is lit by skylights in the upper level courtyard of the offices .
Interiors Finishes make use of natural stone textures , stainless steel fittings , white steel structure and African Mahogany detailing , which gives an appropriate air to a harbour venue . It escapes Victorian pastiche in its use of a modern aesthetic but with the complexity of detail that makes it entertaining .
Offices The office component has an entrance off BoE Square , which is particularly apt as it has a definite corporate character .
The offices form four wings emanating from a central core . The wings provide shallow office space , offering views of the CBD and the harbour .
