Perhaps the most striking aspect of the shopping centre ’ s new design , is the replacement of the pitched , tiled domestic scale roofs at the entrances , with bold , metal clad towers which can now easily present centre and anchor tenant signage . The materials used are also virtually maintenance free .
Stone clad column details were added as part of the overall palette of materials to create a
richness of texture . These towers are the hallmark of the branding and identity of the centre from a distance . There are two areas where outdoor seating was added some time ago , but the design was incongruent with the rest of the building . In the refurbishment , these areas were re-roofed in keeping with the style of the ‘ new ’ centre and the very large , heavy walls and bases were removed to create light and transparency .
As with many refurbishments , the ablution facilities too were completely refinished . These
