The new Middelburg Mall opened in April 2012 , on time and on budget and with a breath of fresh air in terms of shopping mall design . The exciting new Middelburg Mall is already becoming one of Mpumalanga ’ s premier shopping destinations since opening in April 2012 . The regional shopping centre , superbly sited just off the busy N4 highway and accessible via both the Fontein Street off ramp and Tswelopele Avenue , provides a comprehensive retail offering to the fast-growing and increasingly affluent population of Middelburg and its surrounds .

This substantial development represents a massive investment of some R450 million and celebrated its ground-breaking ceremony amongst much enthusiasm for this important project on Friday , 1 October 2010 .
Providing exceptional retail variety the mall includes an array of some 90 retailers of whom in excess of 80 % are national tenants including major South African banks . Local retailers also play an important role in tenant mix .
Middelburg Mall meets the shopping needs of a fast-growing and highly aspirational consumer market , with shoppers falling into the high-end LSM 6 to 10 + categories .
“ Middelburg and its surrounds are growing in terms of population ,” explains Jannie Moolman of the Moolman Group . “ Research also confirms that shoppers in Middelburg Mall catchment area are also enjoying increasing household incomes and the area is experiencing a resultant surge in consumer demand .”
The design concept of Middelburg Mall suggests mining and farming elements that are typical of the area
