A 166m 3 domestic water supply tank has been installed to the new extension . This regulates and provides domestic water to the new extension when the centre demand flow exceeds 10l / sec so as not to place pressure on the municipal supply .
The hotel , the existing centre and the new extension have standby water tanks for emergency fire supply .

Challenges A series of escalators in the Protea Court presented a “ special challenge ”, according to Kanakakis . “ Although the levels connected by the escalators are of varying heights and depths , we wanted the escalators to run at parallel angles and have their start and finish points aligned with each other for a more aesthetically pleasing effect ,” she explains . “ On certain escalators , we used a longer run-off to achieve the desired effect - another first in South Africa .”
Another challenge was the management of the acoustic levels in the new court . “ Circular shapes reverberate more sound than any other shape , and the EFTE material also conducts sound .
