Opened on 27th August 2009 , the second phase of The Grove shopping centre in Nelspruit , ( previously known as The Riverside Lifestyle Centre ), represents the successful culmination of this lifestyle and convenience shopping complex precinct , located within the Riverside Development Node along the R40 main road between Nelspruit and White River .
Introduction The development comprises a total of approximately 36,500m 2 of lettable space , planned to complement the existing retail offering in the catchment area , as well as integrating this into the wider Riverside Node which houses the Provincial Legislature and Emnotweni Casino & Hotels . The development provides a central hub around which future growth of hotels , Conference Centres , Offices , Industrial , Motor Retail outlets and residential developments are planned on the surrounding sites .
Design Intent In keeping with the general design principles of the Riverside Precinct of providing an aesthetically pleasing urban environment which provides the key elements necessary for the establishment and ongoing quality of the public environment in Riverside Park , the design intent for the development is to create a modern user-friendly open plan strip centre which takes advantage of the high visibility and accessibility from the R40 .
The location of focal point buildings on the prominent corners of the site along the R40 road have been positioned to achieve optimal brand visibility from all directions
