“ Research indicated that the residents were in the 20-34 age group , relied on private transport and were employed in the manufacturing , wholesale and retail trade – especially in the Clayville industrial area . There was also a large commuter contingent – people travelling , usually by taxi , to and from work in the area .
“ So , in 2007 , we made the announcement that we would develop this R150m complex to serve the rapidly growing middle-income market of Tembisa . The word “ phumulani ” is an invitation to rest and relax and that was what we decided to deliver – a place where people could shop and ‘ hang out ’ in their own neighbourhood .
Designed for Friendly Flow The single storey mall stands on a 5.56ha triangular stand and is situated alongside the main Olifantsfontein Road , with Clayville , the industrial area of Olifanstfontein , on the one side and the residential area of Tembisa on the other . It has heavy commuter traffic , mostly by taxi and private vehicles .
