The Garden Route Mall is a regional shopping centre in the Western Cape , between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth . The centre is located outside George on the confluence of the N2 and the N12 highways . It is located midway along the Garden Route , one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa , in an area frequented by both South African and foreign tourists .

Site The picturesque surroundings to the site played a major role in the preferred architectural language as well as the orientation of the mall on site . The Outeniqua Mountain range flanks the mall to the one side and the quaint buildings of the neighbouring town , George , to the other side . The centre is strategically placed close to George , the airport , Mosselbay and Knysna . The immediate surrounds still boast both indigenous and pine forests and vast areas of fynbos vegetation .
The architectural styling of the surrounding building in this area comprises various types of Cape Dutch Architecture and the human scale of the building in conjunction with town planning ’ s height restriction criteria had to be incorporated into the design of the mall . The site is flanked by various erven zoned for hotel , residential , office and retail usage . The closest built – up neighbour comprises a hotel catering for tourists to this area .
The architectural theming of the centre supports the vernacular Cape Dutch Architecture
