Certain electronic security measures have been provided , including a CCTV monitoring system . Cameras have been strategically placed to provide comprehensive cover of the centre . A satellite television reception and signal distribution system was provided for interested tenants to hook into .
A / C INSTALLATION REPORT The installation of a central chilled water plant , satellite air handling plants and associated ductwork proved both economical and flexible in design , due to the centre increasing in size during construction .
Due to the variable nature of retail development in accommodating large national and major tenants , a number of designs had to be reengineered during the project , which required understanding and close co-operation between the architect , tenant co-ordinator , other service engineers and the air-conditioning consultant .
The basement level chiller plant accommodates two large centrifugal chillers and two smaller ‘ low load swing ’ screw chillers . The total heat rejection of the chiller plant is 7300 kW . A total of 16 variable volume air handling unit plants distribute air to the retail areas . Dedicated constant volume air handling unit plants with integrated energy metering distribute air to a selection of the major stores . The VAV plants range in size from 6.5m 3 / s to 12m 3 / s .
Economy of pumping was achieved to reduce chiller plant operation and , therefore , excessive power usage both during and after-hours is reduced .
A computerised building management system ( BMS ) was utilised to control all aspects of the air-conditioning system from duct pressures to the functioning of the chiller plant as well as energy metering of major stores . All information pertaining to the air-conditioning systems
