The concept for the interior design was to create a simple artist ’ s canvas of the structure and the use of lighting to wash the canvas as an ever-changing backdrop . This allows the tenants to create the drama and focal point with their signage and dynamic window merchandising . The use of large , strong graphic material was used in the courts to enhance the imagery of the centre . These were also used to facilitate and enforce the concept which is evident in all areas of the mall - the colour changing environment . This concept has created an environment that allows the shopper to continually experience something new .
The centre is able to create cool fresh shopping in the heat of summer and warm , cosy shopping in winter . The lighting is controllable to the point of enhancing the shades of autumn or creating a red and green Christmas spirit . The lighting is subtle enough not to distract from the all-important merchandise , but strong enough to create a mood .
The colour-changing environment has again been highlighted differently in the food court with its huge glass and steel architectural ” butterfly ” above . The glass walls are tinted in a geometric design allowing the natural light to hit the floor in different colours moving with the direction of the sun .
The floors throughout the centre are shades of neutral cream and polished Chinese porcelain tiles . They are laid in large simple geometric patterns , which are reflected on the ceilings by using raised and dropped plains of flush plaster . All the shopfronts are tenant designed and manufactured in polished aluminium , black , grey and white - all adding to the neutral pallate of the centre .
