Cape Gate Regional Centre is Cape Town ’ s youngest and hottest shopping centre . Situated on the N1 , on the Okavango off-ramp , Cape Gate is easily accessed by motorists , cyclists , as well as pedestrians . The Cape Gate Regional Centre is the next phase of the development of a new retail and commercial node in the North Eastern Metropolis of Cape Town . The area was identified as an “ urban development ” in the Urban Structure Plan of 1988 . It is an area of Cape Town that is undergoing dramatic residential growth and the Cape Gate hub will be the support system needed in close proximity to the residential component .
Site The site is situated 20km north of Cape Town off the N1 highway . Driving up onto the new 4-lane Okavango Road , widened as part of the Cape Gate scheme , there is a vista of the whole development which will include offices , residential , commercial . The Regional Centre opened in March 2005 and boasts 170 stores which offer a comprehensive range - from clothing , to homeware , to books , to eateries , to electronics , to entertainment , including eight Ster-Kinekor Junction theatres , and sites surrounding it are already bustling with construction vehicles .
