Sustainable Infrastructure and Ecological Restoration The Riverlands Precinct development is committed to sustainability, redefining what urban sustainability looks like with 65 % of the development dedicated to green open spaces. This initiative enhances the site’ s ecological value while fostering biodiversity and environmental resilience. The Riverlands Precinct 1A( Retail & Offices) has been awarded a 4 Star Green Star: Custom Mixed Use rating. Some green building initiatives that were implemented include:
Environmental Management and Resource Efficiency
• Strict environmental management monitoring processes were in place throughout construction. Over 70 % of demolition and construction waste was reused or recycled;
• 82 % of the building’ s reinforcing steel was sourced from recycled materials;
• Forest Stewardship Council( FSC) certified timber was used;
• Transportation emissions were reduced by sourcing 17 % of materials within 50km and an additional 20 % within 400 km of the site.
Indoor Environmental Quality Low VOC( volatile organic compound) paints, adhesives, sealants, and floor coverings were used to enhance indoor air quality. Fresh air supply exceeds SANS 10400-O: 2011 standards by 66 %, ensuring outside air rates of 12.5 l / s per person.
Office buildings maximise natural daylight and provide expansive views of the surrounding green spaces.
Energy Efficiency High-efficacy LED lighting systems were installed throughout, with basement parking lights featuring onboard sensors and adjustable low-light settings. Office lighting is designed
