As we reach the end of the year it’ s time to look back and reflect on 2025. It was a big year for Architect and Builder as we celebrated our 75th anniversary. We are proud to reach this amazing milestone in publishing. Could this make us the oldest B2B publication in South Africa? Most possibly. Along with this celebration this was the year that we changed from bi-monthly to quarterly, bringing you four magazines jam packed with content, and the feedback on this change has been very positive.

Continuing on with this positivity; I attended the SAPOA Convention at the end of September. My main takeaway from the convention was the positive sentiment felt by developers and financial institutions with regards the state of the property industry. The general feeling was that we have turned a corner, with even the commercial office sector showing signs of green shoots after some years in the doldrums. This bodes well for all of us in the Built Environment sector. A highlight of the Convention is the SAPOA Property Development Awards for Innovative Excellence. Our feature on the award-winning projects is always a highlight of the last issue of the year and the support for the feature is an indication of how important these awards are to the industry.
