At the heart of the scheme is a central piazza, which provides an organising element around which the buildings, pathways and public areas are arranged. Its role extends beyond circulation. By positioning food, lifestyle and other active uses around shared spaces, the piazza encourages visitors to linger and creates opportunities for informal interaction.
Landscape is an integral part of this experience. Indigenous and fynbos planting helps establish a sense of place while supporting the project’ s environmental objectives by reducing water demand. Natural materials and
carefully considered planting reinforce the relaxed character of the Garden Route while helping the architecture sit comfortably within its surroundings.
The same environmental thinking extends into the building itself. Natural light is maximised where possible while high-performance insulation and energy-efficient glazing contribute to operational efficiency. Solar integration further supports the sustainability strategy, complemented by water-efficient fixtures and landscape measures designed to conserve resources. Dedicated waste management areas also facilitate recycling.
