Location and Heritage Context Located within the Heritage Overlay Zone of Stellenbosch, the site sits in the heart of Universiteit’ s Oord, less than one kilometre from Stellenbosch University and the Stellenbosch Green Zone. This central location makes Poplar House ideally suited to student life, within walking distance of campus, academic facilities, and key amenities.
Design Challenges and Objectives A central objective of the design was to maximise the site’ s development potential without compromising internal spatial quality, a particularly complex challenge given the physical and zoning constraints and heritage sensitivities governing the property.
