The staircase, constructed in black steel, is set against a backdrop of vertical oak timber slats, introducing warmth and texture into the interior environment. This material language continues at the lift lobbies, where oak slat cladding and concealed lighting create a consistent and refined spatial experience, reinforcing the building’ s cohesive internal architectural identity.
Form and Massing At first glance, the building is defined by a composition of bold rectilinear volumes. These clean, orthogonal forms give the structure a strong geometric presence, allowing the architecture to read clearly within the surrounding streetscape. The massing strategy carefully balances solidity and transparency, creating a dynamic relationship between the built form and the coastal light for which the Durban region is well known.
Opaque white aluminium cladding panels wrap portions of the façades, forming crisp planar surfaces that contrast with the lightness of expansive glazed curtain walls. This juxtaposition of solid and void creates a layered architectural expression that feels both robust and refined.
