SEATON HOUSE, SALT ROCK
Construction has officially commenced on the 25-hectare Seaton House campus, marking a defining moment for a school that has been carefully envisioned to serve families on KwaZulu-Natal’ s rapidly growing North Coast. Construction is now underway within the Seaton Commercial precinct, just north of Salt Rock, with the school on track to open its doors to its first intake in January 2027. Purpose-built as a biophilic campus, the school has been designed as a living classroom where academic rigour, character formation, sport, culture and a connection to nature are intentionally woven together. Designed to work with the natural landscape, the campus incorporates 12 hectares of protected wetlands, boardwalks and discovery trails, outdoor learning pods, sensory and food gardens, and a terraced amphitheatre. These spaces form an integral part of daily school life, encouraging curiosity, reflection and experiential learning in natural surroundings. The professional team is led by architect Elserie Pretorius of TCRPV and landscape architect Bernice Rumble of Land Art Studio. As the site continues to take shape, Seaton House is already emerging as a defining feature of the North Coast’ s next chapter in education and community life.
MOLEPO MALL, CAPRICORN, POLOKWANE
A substantial new mall is coming to Ga-Molepo, with the building of a new 9,800m ² mall in the heart of Capricorn, Polokwane. The mall will be a combination of a destination mall around an airy walkway combined with an external-facing strip mall, with a mix of restaurants and convenience stores.
The mall is being developed by Lizhakandila Investment Property and is scheduled to open in December 2026. The mall will be a standout development in the area, which has been largely ignored in the past by developers.
The developers are specialist retail developers who deliver high-quality, community-centred shopping malls and filling stations across the country, developing projects that the community is proud of.
This mall is located off the R71 on the corner of District Roads D4040 and D4020. The entire site is 22,347m ² and will be developed in two phases. Phase 1 is 9,800m ² of retail space with over 400 free parking bays on grade. There is a proposed dedicated taxi hub for convenience and accessibility for all local commuters.
From a visual and architectural viewpoint, the mall is modern and elegant with an honest use of materials. Designed by Inclusive Design Architects, the aesthetic of this L-shaped mall balances a combination of materials with clean lines. There is a play between sheeting in the form of cladding, face brick, and plaster and paint, creating positive and negative reveals. The covered walkway is open and airy with tall volumes of space, with two entrances for convenience and accessibility. This creates a warm and welcoming environment.
Molepo Mall is an environmentally friendly development, establishing itself without municipal water and waste systems. This highlights the economic use of water and recycling of grey water to create a socially aware mall. Boreholes provide the necessary water, with backup tanks for water and fire systems. Low-use LED lights and energy-efficient air conditioning are key to a reduced environmental footprint.
With the introduction of a filling station and a drive-through, this creates a lively destination hub centred on convenience and social interaction.
