Oniro Studios is a boutique interior design studio specialising in elevated hospitality experiences and luxury residential environments. The name Oniro is derived from the Greek word meaning“ dream,” reflecting the studio’ s commitment to translating each client’ s vision into carefully considered, wellexecuted interiors.
The studio creates exclusive interior design solutions with a focus on luxury residences and apartments, hotels, resorts, and spas. Based in South Africa, Oniro Studios works across the country and has expanded its footprint into projects throughout Africa.
Oniro Studios offers a full-service design approach, guiding projects from initial concept development through to detailed design, procurement coordination, and final installation. Particular emphasis is placed on ensuring that the original design intent is carried through every stage of the process, resulting in cohesive, functional, and memorable environments.
A strong emphasis is placed on contextualising each project so that the surrounding environment, culture, and sense of place are thoughtfully threaded into the design narrative. At the same time, careful consideration is given to incorporating and reflecting the client’ s brand standards within each space, ensuring that the final environment remains authentic to the brand while creating a distinctive guest or residential experience.
Above all, the studio believes that interiors should evoke emotion. Through considered materiality, spatial composition, and attention to detail, Oniro Studios strives to create environments that resonate with those who experience them.
introduce rhythm and depth, reinforcing the wine narrative while adding a crafted, tactile quality. Overhead, a stylised Fynbos-inspired ceiling mural by Tess Metcalfe envelops the space, creating a canopy-like effect that enhances the immersive quality of the environment.
Lower-Level Restaurant and Social Activation The lower-level restaurant has been reconfigured to open directly onto a canal-facing deck, strengthening the relationship between interior and exterior spaces. This intervention extends
the dining experience outdoors and reinforces the hotel’ s connection to its waterfront setting.
At the heart of the space is a large circular bar, serving as the primary architectural focal point. Suspended above it, a dramatic chain curtain installation cascades from the upper level, abstractly referencing sailboat sails. Interwoven pebble-like pendants evoke oceanworn shells, and when illuminated in the evening, the installation becomes a striking visual landmark visible from the surrounding area, enhancing ambiance and guest experience.
