park , bringing wildlife in contact with the buildings while visually linking the work environment to the open space and garden areas . MWLF Architects used the line of the buildings as an opportunity to separate conflict uses , noise , bad views or security issues from the working environment . The visual impact of services and parking areas were decreased by screening with vegetation and walls that integrate into the building aesthetic .
Utilising form for function , MWLF adapted the generally accepted H-shape plan into two U ’ s , forming either a common entrance terrace between buildings or , in the case of building 33 , the magnificent triple volume space as heart of the building .
Architecturally , the buildings reflect a contemporary office design while working within The Woodlands strict guidelines . The façades are predominantly plastered and painted , with rhythmic window apertures flanked by floor to ceiling glazed elements emphasising the corners . Combined with a curved tiled element to the western elevation , this creates a specific recognisable architecture . External balconies were introduced on each level , bringing down the scale of the bulk of the building , while shielding windows from the sun . This is supplemented with horizontal eyebrow sunscreens , enhancing passive sun control . The internal layout of the buildings are designed as flexible office space and , with that in mind , the architects placed the central cores to allow for many tenant layout permutations .
Deloitte Building – Building 33 Walking towards the main entrance of the Deloitte building ( Building 33 ), a sense of place is created by the circular koi filled water feature , acting as an intersection between the different axes through the scheme . The entrance is defined by a floating roof covering the glazed doorway in the sandstone tiled square arch , all flanked by triple volume columns . The scale of the solid brick wall facing the west to the side of the entrance is utilised as a signage opportunity , making the entrance more approachable and turning it into a branding opportunity for the tenant . For ease on entry and exit and also to protect the interior environment of the building , the architects introduced an automated sliding door for a seamless transition between inside and outside .
